We got this series for our 12 year old daughter, because she loves cats. She can not keep her hands of these books! And to tell you this is our child, who disliked to read! She goes to bed, and just before I turn in, I peek into her room, only to find her reading her Warriors books with a flashlight.She loved all of the new cat characters as well as clans, introduced in this series. This is the third series we HAD to get for her, because she was bugging us, we needed to buy these for her, she was on the last pages of her last book.She also assigns the charters from the Warriors book to our family members, herself included.I hope Erin Hunter never stops writing these![...]. No, I don't get any money, but it will let me know, I am not wasting my time writing them :-)

My 11 year old granddaughter is a huge fan of the Warriors series. I've bought every collection for her and she reads them quickly. This series helped convert her from a game addict to an avid reader! She no longer brings her games when she visits, and she always has a book or two with her. I love to hear the enthusiasm in her voice when she relates the stories of the clans of cats in the Warriors series. When she isn't reading the books, she's sketching the characters. I've only read two of the books from the series, but I found them to be very creative and engaging. I fully understand why she is hooked. It has been so nice to see this change in her, and I'll gladly continue buying the books as long as Erin Hunter keeps publishing them!

My 10 year old son spent all of the money he received for his year-end straight 'A' report card to buy all of the Warriors' sets. He loves them! I, too, am reading them (52 years old and much more emotional...I cry at least once a book). He has started sharing his Warriors' books with classmates and the books are receiving high ratings from them, as well. I have recommended the Survivor series (dogs) to a classmate's mom who was having trouble getting her son to read (their 5th grade class is required to read a half hour each week day and one weekend day).These books grab your attention and keep it, to the point of not wanting to put them down. We even think of our cats differently now :-).Authors, Thank you so much for sharing your talents! We would love to see a movie or TV series, as well.All of the books sets that were ordered arrived on time (even the pre-ordered ones) and in new condition. VERY satisfied with the entire experience.

My daughter bought this when she was reading Eclipse from The Power of Three, so it took her about a month and a half to get to these books. When she finally got to the problem, it was too late to return the set. On the cover of The Last Hope, on the bottom front is a 1 inch tear. It's a great series and always keeps her interested, but that one tear was her only problem (it was there when they wrapped it in plastic.) If she could give 4 1/2 stars, she would.

My 11 year old daughter is in love with all things Warriors! I am so thankful for this series because it has really gotten her into reading! I love them because they are real stories with happiness, romance, jealousy, politics, as well as sadness. She laughs and she cries. Oh and she already loves CATS so this was purrfect for her!

Going from being a child I had to force to read for 30 min a day (or read to him) to this is absolutely amazing!As a parent, I like that the books are easy reading, and have elementary level plots. I know my son has been in tears a few times when characters were killed off, but none of the scenes are overly dramatic or violent. Just a sensitive kiddo.We will be buying this series until we have acquired them all.

My daughter loves, loves, loves this series. Read 30+ books in the Warriors series from the library over the past several years & my daughter continues to love them so much she wanted to own them. So we now own all 4 series plus all the special editions. It's fantasy. It's relationships. It's drama. It's humor. It's love. It's loss. It's cruelty. It's kindness. It's basic real life but with cats. So it's not only entertaining, it's educational.

My daughter wasn't the fondest of reading but she liked animals. I figured this would maybe jog her interest and I was relieved to find out that I was right. She couldn't put these down once she got started. It relieved me as a parent because I believe literacy is so important. About the Author

Fal Allen started brewing professionally in 1988 for Redhook Brewery in Seattle, Wash. In 1990, he moved to Pike Place Brewery where he was the head brewer for eight years. In 1999, he was awarded the Brewers Association's Russell Schehrer Award for Innovation and Achievement in Craft Brewing. He took over as the general manager at Anderson Valley Brewing Company in Northern California in 2000. Amazon book. Read it the day it got to me

Well written and informative

I worked with the author, Fal, and I can tell you the man knows his stuff. His knowledge comes shining through to you on the pages of his new book. Fal is the brewer for Anderson Valley Brewing Company and, with Fal's help, they brought the Gose style back into fashion. If you want to learn everything about Gose, then this is the book for you, coming straight from the horses mouth.

I got a copy of this book from NetGalley. I decided to read this book because I'm trying to learn a lot about beer and alcohol because I find it interesting. Sadly I did not enjoy this book.The one thing I did find interesting about this book is all the different beer terminology and the basics of how they are made. I didn't really know more about them before reading the book. But that's about all that I found interesting. The writing style was super dry and boring, I couldn't keep my mind on the story and found myself skimming a lot. Gose had a lot of historical information, and if the book had been shorter I think it could have been more interesting. In the end I gave the book 1 star on Goodreads.Â

The author paid special tribute to a distinguished class of beer while tracing it back to its birthplace. The subject of this book, Gose, the beer of legend, goes way back into the foothills of Germany some 1,000 years ago, fittingly, in a town called Goslar. Dated sources indicated that the process of brewing beer then was not as refined as it is today. That comes as no surprise. Oh, how those poor Germans must have suffered.The subsequent history of Gose from its very beginnings to present day were clearly defined. This well-written book came with many illustrations and made for an interesting read. Psychology operates on a false paradigm. I would even go so far as to say that psychologists think that the mind is detached from the body, even if they say the opposite, their work may reveal otherwise because they would be bend to the consensus to avoid alienating anyone. Psychology is a very dangerous science which should reveal that the world is actually an "insane asylum", hence why psychiatrists need to take into account "cultural and historical relativism" when making a diagnoses.I suspect that regardless of the situation, people who feel connected to each other will not cause the situation to devolve. Regardless of power imbalances, people who feel connected with each other will work together. He was a bystander, enjoying abuses by 1 group against another. As he has aged, he has become numb to empathizing with the suffering of others. His girlfriend proves that women would be more cued into empathize, but the qualifier is that I cannot generalize about all women.I suspect that Zimbardo's girlfriend was of a certain type, as some people would enjoy the suffering of others as it would de-emphasize their own distaste for themselves. Here's an example of why generalizing cannot work: in times of tragedy, you may value your life more, or you could be thankful that tragedy did not befell you. This creates a dichotomy of perception. People on the positive side of the scale would value their life more, but people on the negative would be thankful that it was not them. The latter is lacks empathy for the subjects tragedy and should reveal a sinister psychology. Regardless, you can make a scale that can rate people as to what degree they adhere to either, and figure out if it is "conditional or situational; long-term or short-term".I just demonstrated how you can "brand and grade" people. This however would be thought of as inhumane, so the "great and wise" Dalai Lama should be deferred to. Let me rephrase- a study every educated person should know about in some detail .Of all the things that have been written about this study, the one I find the most intriguing is that the vast majority of the volunteers hoped to be assigned the "prisoner role". The guard and the prisoner roles were randomly assigned, during an era when many young people had lifestyles and ideals for which they could conceivably be arrested. As such, a number of volunteers voiced the opinion that "the experiment" would be good practice for them, if they were ever incarcerated, to learn to be strong and conduct themselves with integrity.What really happened, and how quickly the veneer of civilization wore off as soon as "guard" roles were designated is chilling, but well worth reading.

Here's how to attempt to avoid going along for the ride. Far reaching, motivating and well worth more than one read. I'm taking this one slowly because while the writing is great the subject matter is challenging and thought provoking. I'll be going back to this one again and again. This book was recommended by a fellow coach's wife and after tasting the spiced pecan recipe from here I had to get it! This book has a HUGE amount of recipes for tailgating anytime of the day. Additionally there are wonderful stories that give you a true glimpse into the culture of tailgaiting in the the south. The author offers a variety of examples of how different schools have created deep tradition around football. If this isn't enough, there are also wonderful tips on packing a cooler, keeping things the right temperature and when to cook each recipe! This would be a great gift for any football enthusiast!

This cookbook is amazing. Everything I've made from it is absolutely delicious. I don't tailgate. I don't even go to football games but this is the greatest cookbook for cooking for larger groups. With these recipes you can have most of your work finished by the time your guests arrive. I really love this cookbook.

I am a huge college football fan and this cookbook is fun. The stories are great, the recipes easy and fun. I have made two or three things out of it and the items needed are not unusual. I am enjoying reading the stories and cooking the recipe and telling the story to it when people are eating the food.

This book is on financial asset investigations. The reader must have some knowledge of the reader's legal system, privacy laws, handling confidential information, general accounting, reading financial statements, and what to do after you find the assets. This book is not for the average person that does not have this knowledge. That said, this book is a great addition for the professional's library. The author tried to cover as much information as she could but this book doesn't "hold your hand" and tell you what to do after you find the assets. Finding assets also does not mean they are worth anything. The reader must then investigate further into the true value of the asset before proceeding forward. Even those with extensive knowledge will learn something from within this book.

Something in this book are old news and it was very out of date, but still useful. The world of financial investigations changes rapidly and you have to be on top of your game, so this book was not that helpful.

As a licensed private investigator that is experienced in asset investigations, I can personally tell you that this is truly the only book of its kind. I would like to personally thank Mr. Ronald L. Mendell, BS, CLI for writing such a complete and long overdue text on this vital topic. Mendell does an excellent job of describing a systematic method for utilizing various resources/information sources to construct a detailed financial profile of the SUBJECT of the investigation.Asset investigations are time consuming and arduous. Often, one small piece of information can be the key to uncovering a wealth (sometimes literally) of information regarding the SUBJECT. Even an experienced investigator will benefit from this text merely by employing it to insure that all bases have been covered.Forget what you know or you think you know about asset investigations. This book is the real deal for legal (emphasis added) asset investigations. To date, I have not found another book on this topic that comes or even appears to come close to providing the same level of information. If you perform or would like to learn how to conduct asset investigations, I would not hesitate for one second to add this text to your investigative library.As a final note, if you plan on performing any type of asset investigation, I highly encourage you to thoroughly research the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act of 1999 (also known as the GLB) via the Internet. Excellent knowledge of this legislation could mean the difference between a lucrative career as an asset investigator or an excellent career as a resident of your local state correctional facility - no joke. About the Author

Ivor Horton is self-employed in consultancy and writes programming tutorials. He worked for IBM for many years and holds a bachelor's degree, with honors, in mathematics. This is a very good reference book for the C programming language. For absolute C beginners I would also recommend used/older editions which are equally good for this purpose and less expensive (e.g. Beginning C 4th ed, Programming C 3rd by Kochan, C Primer by Pratta, and of course the ANSI C K&R). I bought this book because I was interested in the new multithreading libraries including in the C11 standard and for a better reference for C99 additions like standard ints and the complex datatypes. I was not disappointed. The examples about creating, suspending, and exiting from threads are very good, well structured, and with well-paced increased complexity. Wished that some of the examples had side-by-side comparisons between the new C11 multithread.h functions vs the POSIX pthread.h functions since pthreads are so popular, but other than that, very satisfied with this chapter. I should also mention that the last chapter contains many examples about the new Unicode extension in C11, which might be an useful resource for those coding with international datasets. Although many of the early chapters in this book are very similar to the previous 4th edition, you see a lot of preference for the new C11 thread/memory-safe I/O functions over the traditional I/O functions. There are many code examples about the new safe functions, some which unsurprisingly did not changed that much and others which changed significantly (for example, fopen_s is very different from fopen: no FILE * return). As a side note, I have *not* yet been able to compile the example using the threads.h library with the Mac gcc-4.8 fink port. I will update this review as soon as I get them running. If you are interested in portability over 32-bit and 64-bit systems, you might find very useful the section about the standard int datatypes (e.g. int32_t and int64_t), which have been available for some time. I thought that some of the examples in this book were going to cover the preprocessor macros for printing out standard int datatypes (like PRid32 and PRId64), or otherwise the developer will be required to reach back to the %ld or %lld for formatted printing. This left me a little confused.The examples in this book about the complex datatype were very good. I personally prefer using complex notation in my DSP libraries over the "struct { double re; double im; }" found in traditional code, which often evolves in many #define statements even for simple math operations. With the complex extension in C99 you can add complex numbers just as you will do for ints or doubles. It makes the code more readable and also shorter! Be careful however if using the complex.h library with legacy code, since some functions defined in this library could probably also exist in older libraries.In conclusion, I am glad I purchased this book. Great reference for just learning the language or getting familiar with the new extensions in the C11 standard.

The author does a great job of explaining components of C, then uses them in an example exercise. He then explains how the program/exercise worked. He starts off in the book with the basics and progresses along the way to material that is more difficult, but he is careful with his explanations so as not to go over your head as a beginning C programmer.

Who am I? I have messed with computers since my TRS-80 Model III back in the 80's when I was a kid. For two years, I was a computer science major in college in the early 90's. Back then, I learned BASIC, Pascal, Cobol, & Fortran. I know Pascal fairly well. Right now, I am mostly a high-end user of computers in my work. I decided to get back into the art of programming somewhat for fun & also as a way to integrate some of the at knowledge in what I do know, which is work in social services. I decided that I was going to learn C. It was available back in the 90's when I when to school and had wanted to learn about what others had told me is a powerful language. I get that C is not used as much since the advent of C++, C#, and Objective C. Eventually, I want to learn C++ & Objective C, but my old fashioned thinking had it set that I would probably do well to learn C first. I had an old copy of this book by Horton (2nd edition) and it appeared dated. Decided to spend the money and get an updated copy that I can read on my iPad. This is turning out to be a very informative book. I find it very detailed and fairly easy to read given the fact that I have some knowledge of programming already. Judging from what I read, I think that someone new to programming could probably find it useful as well as he does appear to be following what I learned as sound programming practices. Horton takes the time to explain most everything about the sample programs he uses and the various ways to accomplish the same tasks using different methods. He appears to have natural ability to simplify what is really a rather complex subject. If there was one thing I would criticize is his over-reliance on the C11 standards. I am limited to the gcc compiler, which only accomodates some of the standards. In fact, in my research, there are few compilers that actually are completely faithful to this standard. While this is not a huge issue, I did find it a bit irritating since that standard is so new and most of the major compilers are not yet there. That is the only complaint that I have about it to date. So far, i am on chapter 7 and learning about pointers, which is probably one of the most complex things in C. Horton is making it sound pretty manageable. I would recommend this book to novice programmers and for those who have some experience programming and want to learn about C.

This book is the latest edition of an earlier one purchased for professional use.

Comprehensive, and well written, in an easy to read format. I definitely would recommend this book as a first programming book.

I have read the first three chapters. The book takes you into many C programming aspects from the beginning. Very nice to follow.
