The book is entirely a representation of William Chen's "60 movement" Tai Chi form.The title was a bit misleading in that respect.With that being said, the book does cover the “60 movement” in great detail.The form is, in fact, covered in more detail than other books printed in this time period.The information on what I would consider ‘Body Mechanics’, breathing and weight distribution, alignment, were no more than 1, 2 or 3 pages on each subject, for a total of about 12 pages total. Other books have dedicated whole chapters on each subject.The other complaint I have on the book is the picture are black & white and very small with very little clarity (contrast).Sometimes there were as many as 7 pictures on an 8 x 4 page. The pictures would have to be at least twice as larger to be of much benefit.

I think the money would be better spent buying his "Tai Chi Chuan, Art of the 60 Movements Yang Style Short Form" book which has much more details on his style and forms.

I was really happy to find this book on Amazon. I studied Tai Chi Chuan at William Chen's school in Manhatten years ago. Balance is easier when we are younger and practicing Tai Chi helps to keep and restore balance of movement as we get older. It can be difficult to learn Tai Chi from a book or DVD so if you can, learn in person with a teacher.

First, I will say that in general I liked this book. It is a very good description of Master Chen's Tai Chi form... BUT, it is quite inaccurately titled. One would get the impression (as I did) that this would be an in-depth study of Tai Chi body mechanics.... it isn't. In fact there is almost nothing at all about body mechanics of any type.The text is entirely a representation of William Chen's "60 movement" Tai Chi form. There is information on breathing and weight distribution but NOTHING on body mechanics, alignments, or any of the other things I was expecting from such a title. A decent book for what it is, but it should be re-titled "William C. C. Chen's 60 Movement Tai Chi Form Instructions".

This book is an excellent reinforcement / supplement if you are taking Tai Chi Chaun classes and learning William Chen's "60 movement/posture" form. Highly recommend.

Not anything dynamic, William C.C. Chen is saying what most instructors are repeating in the realm of body mechanics. Nothing unique about this book.

Very clear description of the 60 moves of the short form. For me, this book has been more helpful than videos.

If you want to learn Tai Chi, it is best to start by taking a class. A good instructor will cover the basics and correct the mistakes that beginners make. Once you have a feel for Tai Chi, this book is a very helpful guide for refining your movements. It tells step by step how each movement is made. Even after several years after having taken classes and practicing daily, I still find myself referring back to the book.
