Not only did Professor Greenberg have a mastery of his subject but he was able to sprinkle in just enough humor to make it fun. What more can I say but you can not go wrong in purchasing this course.

Professor Greenberg has done a sterling job with this course. I was initially reluctant. Although my MA provided me with many perspectives from which to view history, music was not one of these. It wasn't that I doubted Greenberg, rather that I doubted whether my own grasp of music would be up to the task. I needn't have worried. He manages to weave between the historical record and the roles and contributions of the makes and users of music with a professional's grace. Not only was the whole thing interesting and with each element well chosen, but his moments of (Parisian?) irreverence spiced the whole thing up and made the style and approach unique in my experience. The only course that I have subsequently listened to a second time in its entirety, and then again in 'excerpt' mode during my spells in my car and workshop. Thoroughly good value.

He is an articulate speaker, a grand actor, a sensitive poet, and yes, forever the comedian. At one point he even utters a bulls*** cough as he describes some falsehood perpetrated by violinist Eduard Reményi upon the memory of his former colleague Johannes Brahms.Greenberg provides surprising new insights into historical events one might think they know well. In one instance a comment he made about Ottoman Turks (a subject I know very well) and their four hundred year rivalry with the Habsburg Empire took me by surprise. “How ironic,” he said, “that when they both collapsed, they did so as allies.” Indeed! I had never thought of it that way. There are many other similar epiphany moments in the course.I thoroughly enjoyed this course and highly recommend it to anyone.

Translator Kirk Watson is to be commended for bringing this translation of Diderot’s allegory to the English-speaking world. There Diderot imagines people stumbling along the path blindfolded and subject to all sorts of predation from various clergy. This is the best part of the book and filled with biting wit as well as insight. Next we get the Alley of Chestnut Trees, which is a life dedicated to philosophy and scholarship. Finally, we get the Alley of Flowers. This last one is a life devoted to material wealth and satisfying material pleasures. People move along this alley, pursuing pleasure but filled with ennui. Reading this is giving me a serious headache. The Kindle version doesn't allow you to increase the font size independently of the page size so it's in 12 point, single-spaced full justification lines. The odd kerning of full justification really makes reading difficult. You may want to try the loose leaf edition.There are serious grammatical errors in the text. I found (easily) incorrect verb number, (the acronym "IS" takes the singular just like "IBM" though both represent plural concepts) incorrect tense, passive voice, run-on sentences and innacurate adjectives. The text rarely introduces a topic. Remember topic sentences in high school? There are none of those here. Just word after word until you reach a summation. Skip to the end of the paragraphs for the summary points.

This textbook is not aging well at all...The problem is that the authors/editors have provided the information in a manner that assumes the MBA student knows absolutely nothing about IT. For example, some of the key terms this text aims to clarify for its perceived tech numb readers include: what is a cookie, what is a data cloud. what is social media, and my favorite, what is “tagging”. It’s actually kind of insulting to be honest.The book’s content perspective appears to be geared towards MBA students from 8-10 years ago. Most MBA students today will roll their eyes at the content in this book, but for those baby boomers out there who just recently upgraded their flip phones for iPhones... this book is for you.The material is barely surface level deep, it never fully dives into concepts or explains their relevance to the future corporate leader. For all the work the editors have taken to explain the importance of integrating IT/IS strategy into overall business strategy, their instructional methodology is written in a manner that only perpetuates the dichotomy between operational and IT staff. Today’s MBA students need more than a cursory understanding of basic IT/IS concepts. You can’t lecture future corporate leaders on the importance of being fully integrated with their IT/IS dev/governance, while also writing the content in a manner that assumes they will never need to know anything beyond a cursory understanding of IT/IS concepts.The overall flow of the book is disjointed, it has no clear flow or direction, and is all over the place chapter to chapter (most likely because they keep adding IT/IS related current event topics as new chapters in each edition). The content on IT/IS strategy, governance, and org capability alignment is very good. After these initial chapters, everything goes sideways. There are entire chapters dedicated to concepts that really only deserve to be sections or paragraphs within previous chapters. Example, SOX Act receives as much page time in this book as critical IT/IS capability development methodologies like agile development, or significant IT/IS privacy concepts.Professors and teachers alike, it’s time to start considering more relevant textbooks.

I found four typos in the first 10 pages. It was loose-leaf on that super-thin paper you find in Bibles. If you ran over a line of text with a highlighter it soaked through to the other side and into the 2nd page... Poorly written, difficult to follow. It was assigned for a graduate class - my thoughts on the professor's qualifications changed the moment I received this book.

Did not enjoy this text for my graduate school course. Had errors, loose leaf pages were annoying, and the text was formatted in a way that was sometimes hard to read. Some of the case studies and technological advances were already outdated.

I used this book as part of an IT course for my MBA. The overall material is rather straight forward and it can be a somewhat repetitive read. However, overall this was a good book with good real life examples of IT in the workplace

This is not able to be viewed on the Kindle Cloud on a PC, only on a Mac. I guess the publishers expect us to read an IT text book on our iPhones.

I first downloaded this to my iPhone with the Kindle app and it didn't work. So I canceled it, and used my student account to download onto my computer, and it didnt work. So i deleted the app and the book multiple times and redownloaded them. The attached pictures are all that I got. I contacted customer service and their response was to try buying it a 3rd time and just wait for it to be refunded later. Im so beyond furious. DO NOT BUY!!

Very poorly written and incredibly hard to follow. This book reads like a rough draft that was rushed to print without much proofing. There is no flow, and it seems like the author was more interested in sounding smart than actually teaching through the text. I agree with the other comment about the pages being thin and highlighting being an issue, which is unfortunate, because with a book this bad, highlighting is essential.

I couldn't even finish the book. David is a terrible character. He strings her along for years, is allowed to date girls but then gets heated and jealous when she has a date? No thanks. I liked Vivi enough and thought she'd be the type of girl not to put up with that kind of crap but I guess not.

Omg this book had been on TBR since forever and I regret it why I didn't read it sooner, but it's better late than never . This is the first time I've read a book by this author and I loved her writing style, it was beautiful and very engaging. I loved the plot and all the characters both Viv and David were so different yet so well suited. Viv was this breath of fresh air and so lively, where as David was more introvert. To be honest I was a little annoyed by David and wanted to smack him few times for not realizing and being so indecisive. Overall it was beautiful story, I can't wait to read Cat and Hank story next their chemistry was definitely obvious and then finally Jackson story. Loved all the St James siblings and the other characters in this series. Highly recommend this series.

This was my first book by this author and I know I will be reading more. The storyline of this book was interesting and unique. I enjoyed the characters and how they were developed. I loved how descriptive the author is (all 5 senses get hit)! I liked that there were no mistakes in grammar or spelling and the book was well written. Overall, an interesting book that will grab your attention and keep it throughout. I highly recommend this book.

Very boring! It is sad when authors or writers think the only way they can get readers is by infusing their novels with sex. The story plot was almost non-existent.

This story was about two people who met twelve years ago. Vivi fell instantly in love with David. But the problem was she was so much younger than him. Her childhood was not the greatest. His family became her lifeline. His sister was her best friend. He left right after his mother died and did not contact anyone for eighteen months. Now he is back but he didn't come back alone. Will she ever get her HEA ending? What about the reason he left? I have read this story several times and still enjoy it.

This is the first book I've read by Jamie Beck. It was quite different from my usual lighthearted romance novels. There was a lot of struggling in this novel to deal with a past event that had been kept secret and a son who had not fully dealt with his mother's death. I liked the characters. Their struggles as brothers and sister and the unrequited love interest kept me turning pages even when it hurt. I have purchased the next book in the series about the sister of the family to see how her life turns out and to see what happened next to the couple from this book.

Story 3.5 rounded up only because it just seemed a bit drawn out with way more problems than there should have been. And a lot of angst as well. However, listening made it for me. Kate Rudd gets 5 stars from me for her, as always, excellent narration. I liked Vivi, but David was not the best hero, I must say. Having said that, he did have reasons for some of the problems he had-particularly his not so great father. He is an excellent secret keeper, but I don't think his mother would have held him to the promise that causes him so much grief. These characters are grown ups and should not have to be shielded from problems that they have a right to know. My opinion only, but that part got a bit much after awhile. ***SPOILER** I noticed a lot of people considered this book cheating. I get it, but I don't really believe it, the hero had already broken it off with his girlfriend, so yeah, not sure why all the fuss. It only took me one day to listen so I did enjoy a lot of aspects

The characters had depth and the storyline kept me engaged. Well written and it was easy to root for Vivi and David. There were a few scenes that felt like it was the same argument in a different setting, but sometimes that's just how life can be I guess. Overall I would recommend this book and will be reading the other books in this series.
